A wealthy older woman falls in love with a younger man, but is the relationship all that it seems?

A native of the Transkei, wishing to get married, goes to work in the
Johannesburg gold mines. Aspects of his recruitment, training and work, and
facilities at the mine. At the end of his contract he returns a richer man to
meet his bride-to-be.

Shots of the Transkei and some Xhosa kraals (61-83). Zenzile looking after his
cattle, wants to buy some more so that he cvan get married (107). The young man
with his intended wife (131). He goes to his uncle for advice on how to get
more money and is recommended to go to wrok in the gold mines (168). Zenzile
and some others arrive at the native Recruiting Corporation offices in a car
that tours the kraals to collect volunteer workers. They are registered and
have a brief medical examination (290). Newly recruited workers are given a
meal and before setting for Johannesburg, are given some food and money for the
journey (340). At the station they board a special train (412). LS
Johannesburg; machinery at the mine head (428). Walking through the gardens
outside the mine compound (475). Once inside, the recruits are greeted by the
supervisors, and after being shown to their living quarters, they go out to the
shady recreation area (556). Some of the new workers with their safety
equipment, heavy boots ,leg guards and tin safety helmets (580). Taking
aptitude tests (600). Training the recruits, with diagrams and practical
demonstrations, in different aspects of excavating and propping mine-shafts etc
(646). Learning to handle mine trolleys, and drive small diesel engines. White
employees learning the same skills in their training as supervisors (710).
First aid practice (750). Workers queuing up at the cashier's window; credit
ledgers indicating how much anyone may be asking the company to send home
(799). Zenzile's mother waits at the roadside for the car carrying the man from
the recruiting office who brings her son's money (924). Some of the men getting
into the mine-shafts cage at the start of the shift (933). A tame baboon in the
recreation compound (963). Men playing skittles (980) and nchuba (?) 995).
Performing native dances in front of an audience (on a mine open day?) (1105).
Zenzile goes home at the end of his contract. He gets of the train with some
other miners, all wearing brightly coloured shirts and hats. Arriving home, he
is greeted by his bride-to-be (1245). The End (1250ft0. (Shotlist) African native works in the Johannesburg gold mines in order to get the cattle
