Jake Ferrari (Tara Subkoff) is a teenage girl who likes candy more than anything else. When she abruptly abandoned by her mother, Jake decides to track down, and move in with, her sister Darlene (Kristy Swanson). As it turns out, Darlene does not want her either. Jake is stranded until Marcia Guerra (Sandra Bernhard) takes her in. Marcia runs 'Jean's American Spa', a sexy, irreverent massage parlour next door. Marcia and Jake develop a strong bond. Jake soon becomes part of the American Spa 'family' along with Teddy, Coco and Bambi.
