I, Claudius (1976)
The mini-series follows the history of the Roman Empire, from approximately the death of Marcellus (24/23 BC) to Claudius' own death in 54 AD. As Claudius narrates his life, we witness Augustus' attempts to find an heir, often foiled by his wife Livia who wants her son Tiberius to become emperor. We also see the conspiracy of Sejanus, the infamous reign of Caligula, and Claudius' own troubled period of rule.

Quo Vadis? (1985)
Franco Rossi's epic mini series about the last days of Rome. Set against the back drop of Rome in crisis General Marcus Vinicius returns to the city from the battle fields and falls in love with a Christian woman, Lygia. Caught in the grip of insanity Nero's atrocities become more extreme and he burns Rome, laying the blame on the Christians. Vinicius races to save Lygia from the wrath of Nero as the empire of Rome collapses around them. Franco Rossi's epic mini series features an outstanding performance by Klaus Maria Brandauer as Nero and features Max Von Sydow as the Apostle Peter.

Caesar the Conqueror (1962)
Caesar the Conqueror: The Roman Emperor expands and prepares his army for battle in Gaul. He is opposed by the Senate. Two lovers are kidnapped but escape in time to affect the outcome.

Imperium: Nerone (2004)
The emperor Caligula is overcome by madness and sends his sister Agrippina into exile, thus separating her from her only son Nero, who at only 8 years old is placed into the care of a community of slaves in the service of his aunt Domitia. In their company the little boy becomes enamored of theatre and poetry and grows into manhood. Caligula is murdered by his generals and Nero may now re-embrace his mother. But Agrippina has only one specific objective; her son must become emperor.

Imperium: Augustus (2003)
Caesar Augustus receives the tragic news that his best friend and commander of his legions, Agrippa has died leaving behind his two sons Gaius and Lucius and his young wife, Julia who is also Augustus' daughter. In trying to convince Julia to marry her stepbrother Tiberius, Augustus tells of how he and Agrippa managed to overcome Mark Antony and Cleopatra with the help of Maecenas to become the most powerful men in the world.

The Fall of the Roman Empire (1964)
At the death of the wise emperor Marcus Aurelius his son Commodus becomes his heir against his will, his inability to govern increases the decay of the Roman empire. His sister leads an uprising against him, and he is finally killed in a duel with Livius, his sister's lover. Livius refuses to be made emperor, and leaves Rome with Commodus's sister.

Caesar and Cleopatra (1945)
Cleopatra hasn't been on the throne of the pharoahs of Egypt very long when Julius Caesar pays a visit. Caesar finds the prospect of romance more tempting than he expected, since Cleopatra is a rare woman who is bright as well as beautiful. And for Cleopatra, a friendly relationship with the most powerful man in the world may pay dividends in the future.
