From the pyramids of Giza to the Great Wall and the Galapagos Islands: everywhere on earth precious historical and natural heritage can be found. These unique buildings and areas deserve to be preserved and protected, so that humanity can continue to appreciate them in the future. Therefore, the UN organization UNESCO in 1972 began designating sites that belong to the world. These locations are known as the World Heritage sites, and they come in three types. "Cultural Heritage" concerns mainly historical sites and building complexes. "Natural Heritage" is about natural phenomena and regions that derive their value from aesthetic or scientific evidence or sheer rarity. And "Cultural Landscapes" are defined as locations where man and nature together have created something extraordinary.
