Synopsis:

Carter Mastin est assassiné. Jim Guthrie, accusé du meurtre, est sur le point d'être lynché. Il est sauvé par Laurie Mastin, la soeur de Carter, qui l'aime. Trois ans après, Jim revient pour punir le coupable. Le shérif Ben East lui donne trois heures pour le trouver. Passé ce délai, il l'arrêtera. Jim retrouve les quatre hommes qu'il soupçonne : Niles Hendricks qui a épousé Laurie et dont le fils est en réalité le sien, Marty Larswell, Deke et Sam Minor. Petit à petit, le filet se resserre autour du coupable.
