Synopsis:

Prague, en l'année 1838, Baldwin, un étudiant fin bretteur, mais fortement désargenté, est amoureux de Margit, la séduisante fille du comte Schwarzenbertg. Pour parvenir à l'approcher, il accepte de signer un étrange contrat avec un mystérieux personnage surnommé Scapinelli. Son existence va être, de temps à autre traversée par l'image de son double qui finalement provoquera sa perte...
