She was born in England in 1902 but raised from age 4 in Kenya, where her father, Charles B. Clutterbuck, tried unsuccessfully to establish a thriving business. Young Beryl grew up hunting and playing with the members of the Nandi tribe. One, Kibii, would remain her lifelong friend. Before she died in 1986, Mrs. Markham went through three husbands and several lovers, including Prince Henry of England, third in line to the throne. She was a well-known trainer of horses. She became a bush pilot and, in 1936, became the first person to fly west across the Atlantic solo. A true story, based upon her own memoir 'West With the Night'...
