Synopsis:
No spanish review yet:
The Freshman: Harold Lamb's dream is to go to college and become the most popular student on campus, much like the character Speedy played by actor Lester Laurel in the movie 'The College Hero'. Accepted into Tate College, Harold plans on emulating Speedy, including giving himself the nickname Speedy, to gain that popularity, not realizing that if he does so, he will be more the buffoon than the hero. To be the most popular student, he will have to outdo the current most popular student, football captain Chet Trask. Unaware Speedy's task is made all the more difficult when one of the upperclassmen, seeing how hard Speedy is trying to impress, does whatever he can to make Speedy look all the more ridiculous, all the while Speedy believing he is achieving his dream. The bully's efforts are made all the more easy as Speedy is able to buy his way to seeming popularity with the small nest egg he was able to accumulate from work. The one thing that Speedy may not be able to buy is his way onto the football team, which he is convinced is the only surefire way to becoming the campus hero, despite not realizing that he truly is not the football type. While Speedy remains unaware how he truly looks to his classmates, Peggy, the daughter of the owner of the rooming house where he is staying, is aware, she who is in love with him, and he with her. The love of a good woman may be able to provide Speedy with a clearer understanding of who he truly should be to impress, and/or get his mind focused on other things other than being everyone's best friend. Why Worry?: Harold Van Pelham (Lloyd) is a hypochondriac, rich businessman who sails to the tropics for his 'health.' Instead of the peace and seclusion he is seeking, he finds himself in the middle of a revolution. He is imprisoned where he befriends the friendly giant, Colosso (Aasen), and they engineer an escape. Together, they quell the revolution. By the Sad Sea Waves: A young bespectacled man lives on the beach, where courtship rituals between boys and girls abound. Seeing that the girls are attracted to a man in uniform, namely a life guard's uniform, the young man dons a life guard t-shirt he finds which does indeed make him more attractive to the girls. There is one in particular he is interested in, a sardine-eyed doll, who in turn doesn't like boys that are too fresh. To help a man who has been waiting for the shower at the beach's bathhouse, the young man changes the signs on all the doors of the bathhouse. The misadventures that ensue due to this act leads to the young man being pursued by a beach police officer. The young man is eventually able to elude the police officer donning yet another disguise. But the young man has to decide if he will give up the disguise when the sardine-eyed doll gets caught in a precarious situation out in the surf. The Marathon: A beautiful young woman has a number of suitors who would like her hand. If her boxing champ father has his way, he will choose who will be the last man standing in his daughter's life. That last man is a spendthrift, but is regardless the father's choice. Along comes a bespectacled young man who also wants the girl's hand. The father still sticks to his first choice, he believing the bespectacled man a desperado. As such, the police are called in to deal with the bespectacled desperado, who in turn decides to elude the police by hiding in plain sight. What ends up happening between the police, the bespectacled young man, the spendthrift, the beautiful young woman and her father is affected by the fact that a men's marathon is being run in town this day. Haunted Spooks: After numerous failed attempts to commit suicide, our hero (Lloyd) runs into a lawyer who is looking for a stooge to stand in as a groom in order to secure an inheritance for his client (Davis). The inheritance is a house, which her scheming uncle 'haunts' so that he can scare them off and claim the property.
