It was at the end of the Second World War that Ray Harryhausen laid the aesthetic foundations of his future works which would inspire, among other things, the universe of "Star Wars". Opting for a voice-over narration, the creator of the legendary special effects of "Jason and the Argonauts" realizes these five "marvelous tales" using puppets articulated according to the principles of the stop-motion, of which the American will become. the absolute master. Little Red Riding Hood: Based on the classic European fairytale. A young girl is pursued and tricked by a big bad wolf who wants to eat her. Hansel and Gretel: A young brother and sister are kidnapped by a cannibalistic witch. Based on the brothers Grimm fairytale. Rapunzel: A young maiden is trapped in a tower by a wicked witch who took her at birth. King Midas: A greedy King Midas is visited one day by a mysterious visitor who grants him the ability to turn all things he touches to gold. He learns his lesson when the food he tries to eat and his own daughter are turned to gold as well. The visitor reappears and offers him the opportunity to return to his old self, which he gladly does. The Tortoise & the Hare: The classic Ray Harryhausen tale that still proves "slow and steady" wins the race.
