Synopsis:
Boccaccio '70 is a compendium of short subjects directed by three of Italy's top filmmakers. Each story is written in the style of the famed Italian essayist Boccaccio, albeit told in contemporary terms. First up is 'The Raffle', written by Cesare Zavattini and directed by Vittorio De Sica: Sophia Loren (wife of Boccaccio '70 producer Carlo Ponti) plays the sexy operator of a shooting gallery, who offers herself as first prize to the best shot. In 'The Job', written by Suso Cecchi D'Amico and directed by Luchino Visconti, Romy Schneider carries a torch for her philandering boss Tomas Milian. The final segment is 'The Temptation of Dr. Antonio', directed by Federico Fellini and scripted by Fellini, Ennio Flaiano and Tullio Pinelli; in this one, Anita Ekberg is an image on a poster who comes to life for the benefit of a drooling middle-aged professor (Peppino De Filippo). A fourth episode, 'Renzo and Luciana', directed by Mario Monicelli, was cut from U.S. release.

Film in four separate episodes: 1.RENZO E LUCIANA Economic hardsip makes life difficult for two newlyweds. 2.LE TENTAZIONI DEL DOTTOR ANTONIO (The Temptations of Dr.Antonio) A moralist becomes obsessed with an erotic billboard advertisement that ultimately drives him mad. 3.IL LAVORO (The Job) Count Ottavio becomes involved in a prostitution scandal and has to deal with his lawyers and his wife who demands the same payment they do. 4.LA RIFFA (The Raffle) Zoe makes herself the first prize in a raffle but when the timid Sacrestan wins, she ensures that Gaetano collects the rewards.

Four directors tell tales of Eros fit for a 1970s Decameron. Working-class lovers, Renzo and Luciana, marry but must hide it from her employer; plus, they need a room of their own. A billboard of Anita Ekberg provocatively selling milk gives a prudish crusader for public decency more than he can handle. The wife of a count whose escapades with call girls make the front page of the papers decides to work to prove her independence, but what is she qualified to do? A buxom carnival-booth manager who owes back taxes offers herself for one night in a lottery: a nerdy sacristan and a jealous cowboy make for a lovers' triangle. In each, women take charge, but not always happily.
