Synopsis:
A drama concerning the Rehstahls, a wealthy Swiss family living on Zurich's gold coast. Peter Rehstahl is an arrogant middle-aged business man who believes he can have everything and knows no limitations. For many years he's had a relationship with his daughter, Luise, and has gotten away with it. But things are about to change on Luise's 18th birthday. In celebration of the event, Rehstahl hosts a party aboard his yacht on Lake Zurich, with many of his closest business associates as guests. Unexpectedly, his son, Michael, arrives without an invitation. Michael not only has a chip on his shoulder, he has come to demand money. When Rehstahl refuses, Michael exposes the relationship between his father and sister. As the sun sets, father and son go at one another with recriminations which forces everyone aboard the yacht to look into themselves, to admit to dastardly deeds that have remained too long in silence.

Luise is celebrating her birthday on her father's luxury yacht on Sunday. Her father is the commodity trader, Peter Rehstahl. His son Michael unexpectedly appears on the boat with guests. Together with the German banker employed by Rehstahl & Co., and his lover Valerie, who owns a gallery in London, they agree to join the party and partake of the champagne offered them. After a bit of initial small talk, the father and son come into conflict because of financial matters and the lively mood is slowly and imperceptibly altered. Then at sunset as Michael, in a fit of rage, brings up the subject of a 'relationship' between his father and sister Luise, no secret is safe. A long night begins, during which the struggle for truth and morals ensues.

Scheherazade is a taut psychological drama of family intrigue set aboard the luxury yacht of a family patriarch, a successful commodities trader. Into the celebration of his daughter's eighteenth birthday enters her brother, with his English gallerist girlfriend and a German banker in tow. As a conflict between father and son emerges, a champagne-induced game of truth or dare ensues, with suggestions of dark family secrets.
