Synopsis:

The German-Americans Daniel Shore (Nikolai Kinski), spends his holidays in Tangier and is confronted with the death of the son of his Moroccan lover Imane (Morjana Alaoui). What at first looks like an accident, is soon proved to be murder, and Daniel is haunted by his guilty conscience that they have no better watch out for the boy. Even then, when he is long in the dark and murky Germany, where he has inherited from his grandmother a house. This house has, however, in itself, because it is designed to counter an absolute sunny and vibrant Morocco. Dark corridors, bizarre tenants and nearly a fossil of Daniel give a nightmarish picture of the present. He is faced with Ms. Kowalski (Judith Engel), the strict accountant of the house that constantly harassed him with any document, also with the intrusive and neurotic singer Elli (Katharina Schüttler) that he actually pressed, but when he ventures overtures hysterical, and it is wegstößt. Still, it is bizarre in the buttoned-up bankers Feige (Matthias Matschke), the Daniel has now suspected of having sinister pedophilic tendencies. For this reason, the candidate of the young Martin (Luke mosquito foot) wants to protect, who also lives in the grandmother's house and together with fig is often strange. The two Life of Daniel Shore offers a double debut for not only Kinski is seen in his first big movie role, but also Michael Dreher has made his first feature-length film. After he has been for his short film and simultaneous closing film at the HFF Munich Trade Fair numerous awards, you could be looking forward to this feature film debut. The story are a lot here and is mainly caused by the occupation of Kinski and based the-dark atmospheric camera work by Ian Blumer. But the part that can not compensate for weaknesses of the screenplay, because it persists sometimes in indecision and ambiguity. Although the dramatic opening minutes are building a tingling excitement during the movie but can not be kept in long-winded, which empties regularly repeated images. This fits the passivity of the other by Daniel Shore, allegedly leads two lives, and yet only one has. This consists of various facets, as well as a past and present, which are interconnected, even if sometimes it is not clear to what extent. Shores passivity is expressively broken only in the final sequence. But even this may be fiction, because there seems to play only in his head. Thus, one would again lead to Kafka, whose fictional characters are also apparent in an alienated world, their existence and combat transformations or bailiff, without finding the way out of this dilemma. Whether Daniel Shore, whose enemies in Morocco and in Germany specifically vague to be fantastic to find his way out, is not entirely clear. Whether one finds on the audience responds to this film, too. Yet despite the confusion outweighs a positive impression of this debut, which is mainly caused by the dark images, the Kafkaesque plot, and remain the striking face Nikolai Kinski in his mind.

Daniel Shore, a 28-Year-Old German-American is about to spend a few days in the flat of his deceased grandmother. Since his return from Morocco his mental state has become somewhat unstable. The trip to Morocco was all about getting away from the work-related troubles and his whole miserable life, but now there is even more to worry about, because in Morocco a boy got killed, and Daniel is thinking he might have become an accessory to the crime. Even in the new surrounding Daniel is haunted by images of what has happened, until everyday situations push him over the edge and soon the past and present become an indistinctive blur.
