Synopsis:
No German review yet:
This is the independent film history of Pink Floyd. The controversial twists and turns of the Floyd story is told in a unique series of interviews featuring Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and the late Richard Wright. The recollections of the band are compared and contrasted the views of the insiders who worked with Pink Floyd in the studio and on the road. The war between the late Norman Smith and Syd Barrett is laid bare. Original producer Joe Boyd recalls his frustrations over losing the band to EMI, Ron Geesin gives a blunt appraisal of the making of Atom Heart Mother. EMI Studio engineer Peter Mew remembers the Ummagumma debacle. Vocalist Clare Torry reveals the truth behind The Great Gig In the Sky while Snowy White and Andy Roberts from Floyds surrogate band recall the surreal backstage environment on The Wall live shows as the poisonous rift between Waters and Wright reached its zenith. DVD two is a critical retrospective about The Wall, and draws on live performance footage of Pink Floyd and highlights from the feature film. It features extracts from archive interviews with Gerald Scarfe and Alan Parker, the director of The Wall, along with the views of a team of leading musicians and musicologists. This is the independent critical review of a milestone in popular culture, which strips away the prejudice to produce the ultimate retrospective on one of the most important and iconoclastic popular works of the twentieth century.
