The first of a series of discoveries that took place over a 12-year period was made on 18th of March of 1588, the feast day of San Gabriel, the Archangel. As workers were demolishing an old tower, the famous 'Turpiana', the minaret of the great mosque of Granada where today's Tabernacle stands to build the third nave of the Cathedral, an old box was found. It was polished, inside and outside, and contained several relics and a parchment. A discovery that transformed Granada's catholic religiosity.
