Leaving from the Invalides and passing through the Concorde, thousands of jubilant Parisians accompanied General Pershing and an American delegation to the Picpus cemetery. On the tomb of the Marquis de Lafayette, the famous "Lafayette, we are here!" is pronounced. This is the beginning of the American commitment alongside the French and their Allies.
