Synopsis:

BASED ON A WORK DE VICENTE BLASCO IBÁNEZ. Rafael Brull is a young man dominated by the atmosphere and the interests of a small Levantina population, that dreams about escaping from that vulgar life, although prosperous, thanks to his encounter with Leonora, a famous singer of opera that has looked for refuge in the place where she was born. Rafael aspires for the love of Leonor, but she offers him just her friendship. The frequent visits from Rafael to the house of Leonora scandalize the population and infuriate Doña Bernarda, his mother.
