Synopsis:

A shaggy-dog yarn given a loopy, very offbeat flavor by direction and performances, Robert Schwentke's sophomore outing, "The Family Jewels," couldn't be more different from his umbrous serial-killer thriller "Tattoo." Despite its many qualities, the black comedy, about an ambitious young guy who first loses a testicle to cancer and then has a ball trying to steal it back from the hospital's path lab, looks a surer bet as a curio on the fest circuit than as a regular item in offshore hardtops.
