Synopsis:

John Simm gives an electrifying lead performance in one of the most contriversial and gripping BBC series of the 90's. Leaving the dole queues of Liverpool behind him, Danny Kavanagh heads off to make a fresh start in The Lake District. Finding work in a hotel he soon settles into the off-duty booze and sex culture. His new life is soon rocked however when a series of shocking events shatter the local community and he finds himself embroiled in the emotional turmoil that follows.

Danny Kavanagh leaves Liverpool for the Lake District, finding work at a hotel and love with a local girl named Emma. Yet Danny remains an outsider in the close-knit community, and through the machinations of fate, he finds himself implicated in a tragedy. As the series goes on, the secrets, lies, and crimes, of the seemingly tranquil community continue to be revealed.

Acknowledged as one of the best drama series of the Nineties', THE LAKES is the dark, bitter-sweet tale of Danny Kavanagh (JOHN SIMM) a typical inner-city wide-boy who leaves the grime and crime of Liverpool for the a (hopefully) better life in the Lake District. However, his attempts to fit in do not go down will with the locals, leading to tragic consequences.
