Synopsis:

The Surveyors / Les Arpenteurs:
This black-and-white Swiss feature whimsically recaptures elements of the 'theater of the absurd' of Eugene Ionesco, Samuel Beckett, Harold Pinter and so on. One of the hallmarks of Theater of the Absurd is that outrageous situations are endured by characters in a completely serious, deadpan manner. The backbone story concerns a lazy surveyor, thwarted by two women whose houses he is surveying for destruction to make way for a park. One of the women blithely continues her teaching business, apparently unconcerned about her house's imminent destruction. In another realm of the story, two men meet, and one gives the other his hat. The hat-giver asks the other to give his fiancé a gift. The hat recipient mistakenly gives the gift to another girl entirely, and makes love to her.
Two men meet and one gives the other his hat and also asks him to deliver a gift to his girl for he is married. But this leads to a mix-up as another girl is there who makes love to the deliverer who thinks it was the other.

Signé Renart:
The vicissitudes of showbiz take the hero Renart (Gerald Battiaz) and his wife Hermeline (Francoise Dupertuis) from up to down and back again in this brief drama. Renart entertains at a nightclub by pulling objects out of a suitcase on stage and creating a wide range of sound effects with his collection of odds and ends. All goes well until his wife is fired from her job at the club because she is pregnant. That infuriates Renart, and he quits. The couple then take off for the mountains and open up a club of their own, but now when he is the owner, Renart is transformed for the worse.
Story of a show business couple who open their own club in an industrial town in the mountains.
