Synopsis:
The story follows a young man's struggle against the legacy of a brutal father, the humiliation of an unfaithful wife and the horrors of the Western Front during World War One. The story opens in September 1913 and Charlie MacFell, home from university, arrives at Moor Burn Farm, where his father Edward rules with an iron fist.
