The Bouquet was originally released as a 'curtain raiser' for the Essanay comedy Hank and Lank Take a Rest. It is established at the outset that, though they still love one another, a husband and a wife have drifted apart. Then one day, a bouquet of roses is mistakenly delivered to the wife. Even though the husband insists he did not purchase the roses, their very presence awakens the couple to the fact that they've neglected each other. Thus, a happy ending, complete with a warm (but discreet) embrace, is a foregone conclusion.
