Young couple Fred (Stanislas Merhar) and Elodie (Coralie Revel) live in a low-rent tenement with their infant child.

The Black Angel (L' Ange noir):
In this stylish French drama fits well into the film noir genre. A visitor comes to the home of Stephane, the wife of an important magistrate. She, claiming attempted rape, calmly shoots him. The visitor is the legendary gangster Wadek Aslanian who was beloved as a latter day Robin Hood. Stephane's husband hires a lawyer, Paul, to defend her. Paul learns many disturbing things about Stephane's sordid past when he starts receiving anonymous letters describing her exploits which included prostitution, performing in porno-movies, and most interestingly having a liaison with Aslanian. The judge is ignorant of his wife's past. Despite her dark and mysterious past, Paul cannot help but fall in love with Stephane.

Céline:
At 22, Céline receives several shocks: her father dies and she learns she was adopted; she rejects her inheritance, so her fiancé jilts her. She's suicidal. A nurse sees her weeping in public and takes her home. Her mother hires the nurse, Geneviève, to care for Céline; Geneviève imposes the same work and meditation regime she herself used to recover from similar depression two years before. The film plays out the resulting dynamics: Céline has mystical success in meditation, and neighbor children discover she has healing powers. Yet life remains painful. Meanwhile, the friendship is now the center of Geneviève's life. When Céline leaves, Geneviève must cope anew with loss.

Life the Way It Is ( La Vie comme ça ):
Television film about the lives of two young women, and the violence of the city they inhabit, including harassment at the office and where they live.

Workers for the Good Lord (Les Savates du bon Dieu):
Dubbed The Wizard of Oz meets Karl Marx's version of It's a Wonderful Life, this film, directed by Jean-Claude Brisseau, is a wild, ludicrous comedy about an ill kind-hearted mechanic who becomes a bank robber. Young couple Fred (Stanislas Merhar) and Elodie (Coralie Revel) live in a low-rent tenement with their infant child. Fred is generous to a fault; he gives his money away to the point of endangering his family's finances. The final straw for the beautiful Elodie comes when Fred gets fired for head-butting his boss -- she dumps him. Lovelorn and crestfallen, Fred rashly robs a post office in order to help an aging beggar. He escapes with a stolen car and comely postal clerk Sandrine (Raphaele Godin), who has long had a crush on him. Together the two spread the booty Robin Hood-style to their fellow downtrodden. While hiding out in a school, they encounter Maquette (Emile Abossolo M'Bo), a supposed African prince who has been turned into a penniless exile thanks to his enemies. Later the three head south. While Fred knocks over the occasional liquor store, Sandrine patiently teaches her new beau to read.
