Synopsis:
The uniformed but rebellious students of a distinguished all-girls school get an unexpected chance to raise a little hell as directors Oliver Parker and Barnaby Thompson set out to revive the characters created by comic artist Ronald Searle and made popular in the British film series that began with 1954's The Belles of St. Trinian's. When their beloved school is threatened with closure should the powers that be fail to raise the proper funds, the girls scheme to steal a priceless painting and use the profits to pull St. Trinian's out of the black. Rupert Everett, Colin Firth, and Mischa Barton star in a mischievous comedy penned by Piers Ashworth and Nick Moorcroft.

Amber Spottiswood, headmistress of St. Trinian's is re-establishing her school in an old country house called Hamingwell Grange. She musters the rest of her staff from their various temporary jobs (French Mistress is a model, art mistress a striptease act) then finds that their new routine is disturbed by night-time prowlers. The Grange is being used by a gang of thieves to hide the loot from a Great Train Robbery and finding it inhabited by hundreds of schoolgirls they formulate a plan to recover it from beneath the ballroom floor. The gang, led by Alphonse, pose as caterers on Parent's Day intending to remove the money when everyone is outside watching the Morris Dancing. However, things go wrong! The girls discover their plan and a chase ensues in which both parties steal a train. The police arrive to arrest the robbers and the girls have to abandon their plan to keep the loot themselves. The girls become national heroines and the final scene shows 300 St. Trinian's pupils each receiving an M.B.E.
