Synopsis:

The Malaysian filmmaker Yasmin Ahmad tells deeply personal and intensely humanistic stories based largely on her own experiences. For her fourth film, "Mukhsin," she revisits the loving and liberal family of her previous features, continuing her portrait of one woman's journey from childhood through adolescence and marriage.

When Orked and Mukshin meet, as young girl and boy, they become best friends. However, the friendship changes as Mukshin develops romantic feelings that Orked rebuffs.

Ten-year-old Orked is a strong-willed girl from a bohemian family. She is not afraid to play tough games with the boys or to stand up to bullies. Over a school holiday, she befriends twelve-year-old Mukhsin, a boy who very quickly develops a crush on her. He becomes tormented by his love for her but their relationship remains a close but platonic one.
