Synopsis:
One of several global dramas that reportedly culled direct inspiration from the infamous Columbine High School Massacre (and evidence, given its geographic origins, of that tragedy's global impact), Ilmar Raag's harrowing Estonian drama The Class (AKA Klass, 2007) unfolds in an Eastern European high school overrun by psychotic bullies. Amid this morass, 16-year-old Joosep (Part Usuberg) suffers from constant, sadistic belittlement and humiliation. One of his torturers, newcomer Kaspar (Vallo Kirs), soon changes sides and offers to protect the victim, as a kind of bodyguard, but in time, per human nature, the bullies also turn him into a pariah. One act of systematic humiliation too many soon pushes the two boys over the edge and sets the stage for an unremitting bloodbath of vengeance. Raag also authored the original script.

Kaspar and the class pushover Joosep are 16 and life is not easy. Without meaning to, Kaspar defends Joosep against the bullying of their classmates, causing the students to turn on him as well. The two form an unwilling friendship. Kaspar just wants his friends, his girl and his unassuming life back. Joosep wants to regain his dignity and the chance to go to a high school somewhere far away. But their classmates are relentless, going further and further with each attack.

Drama. Introvert Joosep is the target of crude jokes from his classmates who are irritated by his taciturn nature. The only support he has comes from Kaspar, whom he sits next to in class. Anders, the leader of a gang, steps up his behaviour towards both boys, taking things beyond the limits of human dignity. After a particularly repulsive incident, Joosep and Kaspar decide it is time to take action.
