Synopsis:

Dramatization of the possible life of the famous mummy 'Ötzi', found on September, 19th 1991 in the Swiss Alps.

From award winning film maker Kurt Mündl comes a dramatized documentary certain to capture the attention and spark the imagination of viewers worldwide: "The Living World of Ötzi - The Iceman".When the mummified body of a man was found on the Similaun Glacier in the Austrian Alps, scientists all over the world held their breath - this was the first time an almost perfectly preserved complete human body from the Neolithic Age had been found with clothing and everyday utensils ... 5.300 years after he died!

"The Living World of Ötzi" recreates the actual life of Iceman Ötzi, telling the story of the last year in the life of the most famous Stone Age man: "the year before I fell asleep". Instead of concentrating on Ötzi's mummified body, the documentary gives him a face and brings the Stone Age to life, complete with all its wonders and its horrors. The special also features the members of his tribe and the small Alpine village where they live. It shows how people from the Neolithic Age (adults, adolescents, children, their shaman) struggle through each of the four seasons in an environment where nature had yet to be tamed. At that time, the whole of Europe was covered by untamed primeval forest.
