A journey through Spanish experimental cinema. The work of a few and their passion for the medium explains that experimental cinema has extraordinary manifestations in Spain, despite the adversities it has met in its production, distribution and,until very recently, in being considered in the artistic world. This selection, prepared alongside the programme 'DEL EXTASIS AL ARREBATO (FROM EXTASY TO RAPTURE). 50 years of the other Spanish cinema', a travelling programme that will visit numerous countries, brings together 31 key films in this history, filmed by artist who often worked like snipers: in isolation and without a second chance.

A journey through spanish experimental cinema/Un recorrido por el cine experimental español. 'A journey', one among the many possibilities, uncountable combinations that one could behold. Though the concept of 'experimental film' may cover a wide range of formulations and intentions, this particular journey is made through a narrow and well-delimited ground. Most of the works included in these DVDs originate from a will to experiment with, to investigate the moving image for itself, leaving out many other approaches, also valid, but that delve into other genres such as documentary films. A quick look at the contents of both retrospecctive and DVD set is enough to realize the different approaches of each: The retrospective is open to different 'genres' and formats, including pieces made in video.
