Synopsis:
The Roder family find their loyalty split as the Nazis rise to power. Dr Roder, an eminent throat specialist, hates and detests the Nazis with a passion but his actress wife Irena is seduced by the glamour of Berlin and leaves him to further her career. With the help of Hans, a young man whose girlfriend has been brutalised by Nazi stormtroopers and sent to a concentration camp, Dr Roder secretly sets up Freedom Radio, beaming anti-Nazi messages into the heart of the Reich. Disillusioned by a Berlin in the grip of fascist tyranny, Irena returns to her husband and discovers what he is doing - unaware that her own brother, a fanatical Nazi, also knows her husband's secret... Made in 1941, this stirring wartime adventure celebrated all the good people of Austria and Germany who risked their lives to oppose Hitler.

In this WWII drama, a German doctor, highly praised by his Nazi employers, finds it increasingly difficult to support the oppressive, increasingly brutal movement. At first he does nothing as his friends are persecuted and his wife becomes increasingly enamored with the party's misguided philosophies. Eventually he enlists the aide of an engineer and creates a secret radio station where he broadcasts condemnations of Hitler and prays for a 'better' Germany to arise out of the ashes of his ruined country.

A stirring wartime adventure. The Ryder family find their loyalty split as the Nazis rise to power.
