Synopsis:

After his parents are killed in a World War II bombing, Tom is sent to live with relatives on a farm in rural Holland. He's sad, angry and scared and resents having to live with his aunt and uncle. But when Tom gets a German Shepherd, Sniff, to raise, everything changes. He puts all his trust in Sniff and together they try to make the best of life even though their village is under German control. With Sniff's help, Tom rescues a Dutch pilot that's been shot down and wounded. But when a Dutch Nazi collaborator sends soldiers to search for the pilot, it's up to Sniff and Tom to expose the traitor. The pilot escapes back to his unit and Sniff leads the troops back to liberate the town.

Adolescent Tom lost his parents and home in the Nazi bombing of Rotterdam. The orphan is taken in on uncle Tjerp's Friesian farm. Old farmhand Bauke gets him a German shepherd puppy, even grumpy Tjerp can't resist their instant bond. As Tjerp feared, the boy takes grave risks wanting to revenge his parents on the German occupation garrison. Finding Dutch RAF gunner Haaksma starts a series of dangerous adventures.

Snuf is a German shepherd who is given as a present to Tom who, after his parents were killed during the Nazi bombing of Rotterdam, has been living with his aunt and uncle on a farm in 1940s Friesland. Together with Snuf and Mirjam, his Jewish girlfriend who is in hiding in the countryside, Tom has many adventures.
