Synopsis:
This film by the controversial Dutch director Cyrus Frisch is mostly interesting for its style, with lots of experimental visuals resulting from shooting through water, glass, mirrors, etc. Narratively, the film belongs to the type where landscapes in general - and deserts in specific - represent the emotional state of the protagonist(s). Like in several other films (e.g. 'Zabriskie Point', 'Twentynine Palms') people drive through a desert, communicate dysfunctionally, feel miserable and alone, and have sex in the majestic nature. Here however, in that same (Californian) desert, they also run into an African civil war, HIV victims and African viruses transmitted via bugs. The ensuing surreal effects attempt to visualize the protagonist's perception of the world while infected by that virus.

Drama about a couple embarking on a road trip in North America that emerges into North Africa.
