Synopsis:
In 1974, Karo sets out from Belgium with her dad, Raven, and her mom, Dalia, to start a new life in Amsterdam. They join a group that is taking over a vacant building and setting up a new society based around the vast common room they all share. No walls, no rules, only love. Raven builds fantastical see-saw constructions on which Karo and her friends can play. Karo even gets a swing in the common room, which gives her a view of the adults below: eating, bathing and debating together. But when Raven begins a flirtation with a new Dutch woman, he puts his ideals in defence of his desire. And, the family that left Belgium begins to fray as the forces of free love and jealousy threaten to pull it apart.

Ten-year-old Karo grows up with her parents in an Amsterdam commune in the Seventies. As an only child, she leads a carefree existence in this utopia-for-adults. The mandate says that everything is to be shared in the squat, but soon not everyone is able to honour these ideals. Karo is torn between the love for her mother and loyalty towards her father and his ideals. She slowy realizes that nothing can stay the same forever.

A young girl witnesses the moral dilemmas of free love when her parents join a squatter community in 1970s Amsterdam.
