Synopsis:
A routine run for a truck driver turns into a nightmare he can't escape in this psychological drama from filmmaker Sergei Loznitsa. Georgy (Viktor Nemets) is driving a load of freight into Russia when, after an unpleasant encounter with the police at a border crossing, he finds himself giving a lift to a strange old man (Vladimir Golovin) with disturbing stories about his younger days in the army. After next picking up a young woman (Olga Shuvalova) who works as a prostitute and is wary of the territory, Georgy finds himself lost, and despite asking some homeless men for help, he's less sure than he was before of how to make his way back where he belongs. As brutal images of violence and alienation cross the screen, Georgy's odyssey becomes darker and more desperate until it reaches an unexpected conclusion. Schastye Moe (aka My Joy) was an official selection at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.

The story of truck driver Georgy. He leaves his home town with a load of goods, but he is forced to take a wrong turn on the motorway, and finds himself in the middle of nowhere. Georgy tries to find his way, but gradually, against his will, he becomes drawn into the daily life of a Russian village. In a place where brutal force and survival instincts overcome humanity and common sense, the truck driver's story heads for a dead end...

The story about a few days in the life of truck driver Georgi seems to be a never-ending nightmare, a spiral of violence and abuses of power. A man goes to work and on his way he is sucked into the everyday madness of his country, losing his health and memory in the process and ends up as a murderer, who calmly lies down to sleep after committing the crime. A dark parable about the situation in deep Ukraine today.
