Synopsis:

Dark Age is a kick-ass combo of giant monster movie ecological horror and Ozploitation at its finest. A classic tale of terror from the golden age of Aussie exploitation Dark Age features outback stalwart John Jarratt (Wolf Creek) as Northern Territory wildlife ranger Steve Harrisa stoic survivor charged with conserving the ever diminishing crocodile population from encroaching hunters hell-bent on destruction of the species. Faced with formidable opposition from gung-ho hunter John Besser (Max Phipps Mad Max 2) Steve is joined by girlfriend Cathy (Nicki Coghill The Time Guardian) and sets out to relocate a giant crocodile to a breeding ground sanctuary well out of harm's way. Aided by expert tracker Oonadabund (Burnam Burnam Ground Zero) and Adjaral (David Gulpilil The Tracker) the intrepid foursome risk life and limb in a terrifying journey that will test their nerves and transform the tranquil Territory waters into a raging red torrent of death. This well-made Australian blend of Jaws and Alligator is a tense, action-packed thriller involving a monstrous crocodile, a tough ranger (John Jarratt), and a team of aborigines who worship the monster as the god "Numunwari." This leads to lots of gory clashes with the reptile, interwoven with some interesting tribal lore surrounding the legendary croc and a subplot involving a psychic connection between the beast and one of the aborigines. The climactic battle puts a sympathetic spin on the plight of Numunwari, believed to be the last of his kind -- but his unpleasant habit of snapping people in half makes it a bit difficult to muster up enough empathy for the monster. Based on a novel by Grahame Webb.

In Australia's Northern Territory, a massive saltwater crocodile is attacking and killing people. A ranger is assigned to deal with the killer crocodile, but he finds himself at odds with the local Aborigines, who believe the crocodile contains the spirit of their past, and want this goliath-sized beast preserved. The ranger must work with the Aborigines to develop a plan to respect their wishes as well as protecting the local residents threatened by the crocodile.
