Synopsis:
The cult '60s TV series I Spy screened from 1965 to 1968 and starred Bill Cosby and Robert Culp as the ultimate 'salt and pepper' duo playing international espionage agents Kelly Robinson and Alexander Scott. With witty banter and effortless biracial chemistry, Culp poses as a world-class playboy/tennis player, and Cosby goes undercover as his trainer. Season 1, Episode 14: Affair in T'Sien Cha

In the series pilot (whose showing was delayed well into the first season), Kelly narrowly escapes a sniper's bullet while playing a tennis match in Hong Kong. He and Alexander Scott, a pair of U.S. agents, aren't on assignment at the time. Shortly thereafter, they are told to find a freight train that disappeared between China and Hong Kong. The train was only carrying building materials. It turns out, however, there was a passenger who is of great interest to China.

'Papa' Charlie, a shady Chinese criminal type, wants to return to Formosa (now Taiwan), the land of his birth from Hong Kong. But he can't emigrate until he settles a large tax bill with U.S. authorities. He has three daughters married to criminals eager to get their hands on his money. Kelly Robinson and Alexander Scott are assigned to help Charlie pay off his debts and avoid being killed by his deadly sons-in-law. But Charlie is also playing his own angle.

The general is seeking the United States' assistance in waging a counter-revolution, but Ortiz's wife is suspiciously resistant to allowing Kelly and Scott meet the general. Why the cover-up?

The prime suspect is the seventh man who washed out of the team and happens to be a friend of Scotty. Scotty tries to reach him though his sister, a singer performing in Las Vegas. But gaining her cooperation will require more than persuasion. I will require a carefully conceived trap.

Kelly and Scotty are assigned to beautiful Palm Springs to vet a beautiful defector with some truly interesting secrets. A wonderful setting for a budding romance with Kelly if only the bad guys would stop shooting at her.

Kelly and Alexander are abducted and impersonated by two enemy agents. Their intent; to get close to a defense contractor, kidnap his daughter and force him to turn over secret weapons designs. As Kelly's and Alexander's escape attempts continue to go awry one wonders if they are up to rescuing the fair maiden.

Kelly Robinson and Alexander Scott travel around the world in their profession as agents for the United States government. Their business is serious with no fancy gadgets or flashy villains; Kelly and Scotty are more apt to battle industrial spies and Cold War agents than megalomaniacal would-be world dominators. As their cover, Robinson travels the professional tennis circuit with Scott as his trainer.
