Synopsis:
Adrift in Tokyo (2007)
Leading a lazy life, Fumiya has been a student for 8 years and owes money to loan sharks. One day, a man named Fukuhara comes to collect the loan, which Fumiya cannot pay. So Fukuhara makes a proposition: He will cancel the debt as long as Fumiya agrees to walk with him across Tokyo to the police station of Kasumigaseki, where he intends to turn himself for a crime he deeply regrets. Not having much choice, Fumiya accepts the deal. Thus begins their journey.

Instant Swamp (2009)
Haname might not be living a cursed life, but she certainly isn't living a charmed one. The drudgery of daily life is taking its toll, and Haname fears that her life is slowly eroding into something humdrum and deathly dull. Then her world is knocked for a loop when her water sprite hunting mother is hospitalized and a long submerged postbox reveals that Haname's father is not actually the man she thought he was. Her real father, according to a never-delivered letter, is a black sheep of her extended family who skipped town without knowing that he had impregnated Haname's mother.

Turtles Are Surprisingly Fast Swimmers (2005)
Suzume Katagura is an bored housewife, she spends her days doing chores and taking care of her husbands pet turtle. One day she sees an wanted ad for spies, hoping for some excitement she decides to give them a call.

Adrift in Tokyo (2007)
Takemura has no friends and no family. He's a student but he doesn't have any particular ambitions. In other words, he isn't going anywhere fast. Were all this not enough, the sorry sad sack has a debt of 800,000 yen. Fukuhara, a surly debt collector with a glorious mullet, is on his case. After roughing Takemura up, he gives him an ultimatum-72 hours to pay up, or else. Takemura barely has his wits about him again when he runs across Fukuhara a second time, and this time the thug has a different proposal-a walk. That's right, in exchange for a million yen, Takemura must accompany Fukuhara on a walk across the city of Tokyo. Starting in a distant corner of the city, they begin their trek towards downtown, striking up a conversation. It's at this point that Fukuhara admits that he's recently killed his wife, and intends to turn himself in at Kasumagaseki police station-because, he says, it's the finest in town. The pair's itinerary, however, is hardly a quick and direct one. The disparate duo drift here and there, hanging out and coming across a host of eccentric personalities, creatures of the urban jungle's various habitats. As their walking, talking and trading truths continues, the arrangement between Takemura and Fukuhara starts to transform into friendship.

Instant Swamp (2009)
Haname is a lively and expressive young woman, blessed with a fertile imagination that occasionally conjures up some strange notions. She's dissatisfied with her humdrum day-to-day life and dreams of changing it all (except of course for the mucky mixture she guzzles every morning, which she wouldn't give up for the world). Moreover, despite the pronounced scepticism she holds towards the supernatural, a run of bad luck starts to convince Haname that she's been cursed ever since she tossed into a swamp all the gifts her dad gave her on her eighth birthday, the day he left the family for good. Among the objects was a cat talisman, which must have been cursed. Since then, nothing's gone right-the magazine she works for is on the verge of bankruptcy, recycling rockabillies have emptied her apartment, she's misplaced her pet rabbit on a rabbit farm after it lost its hat, and her mother's in the hospital after she nearly drowned while trying to fish for spirits with a pickle. But thanks to a letter her mom wrote just before the accident, Haname locates her father, an "antique dealer" named Light Bulb, and meets a punk rocker named Gus. Can they perhaps help her out of the mire her life has become?

Turtles Are Surprisingly Fast Swimmers (2005)
Suzume Katakura (Juri Ueno), a twenty-something housewife, is bored. In her eyes, she's the definition of ordinariness - ordinary looks, an ordinary husband and an ordinary apartment, where she cooks, cleans and does laundry in an ordinary way. Even her favourite food is ordinary; a ramen that both her best friend and the ramen shop owner think 'lacks character'. Suzume feels that she is destined to go completely unnoticed: strangers often treat her as invisible and her husband, who's always away on business, only calls to check on their pet turtle (who, it ought to be said, we don't actually see doing much swimming, surprisingly fast or otherwise).

A collection of the 3 best works of famed Japanese director Miki Satoshi. The box set includes Adrift in Tokyo starring Odagiri Joe and Kyoko Koizumi, Instant Swampstarring Aso Kumiko and Ryo Kase and Turtles are Surprisingly Fast Swimmers starring Ueno Juri and Aoi Yu.
