Synopsis:
The secret life of architectural genius Louis Kahn. Director Nathaniel Kahn searches to understand his father, noted architect Louis Kahn, who died bankrupt and alone in 1974. Nathaniel Kahn's compelling Oscar-nominated documentary is both a tribute to a visionary and a personal journey to discover the 'architect' of his own life, his father. Through interviews with his father's colleagues, architects, and his own mother, Nathaniel also visits his lasting memory: the buildings themselves. These include Yale Art Gallery, the Kimbell Art Museum and the awesome pinnacle of his career, the National Capital of Bagladesh. 'My Architect' is a moving but exhilarating film which will rebuild your faith in life-enhancing cinema.

World-famous architect Louis Kahn (Exeter Library, Salk Institute, Bangladeshi Capitol Building) had two illegitimate children with two different women outside of his marriage. Son Nathaniel always hoped that someday his father would come and live with him and his mother, but Kahn never left his wife. Instead, Kahn was found dead in a men's room in Penn Station when Nathaniel was only 11. Nathaniel travels the world visitng his father's buildings and haunts in this film, meeting his father's contemporaries, colleagues, students, wives, and children.

Personal documentary by his son, about Louis Khan, one of the most influential US architects of the twentieth century, although he died in poverty in 1974.
