Synopsis:

Get set for cases of murder, mystery and intrigue with private eye Harry McGraw - from the creative team who produced Murder, She Wrote. Somewhat rough-around-the-edges private eye Harry McGraw is street-bred and street-wise. Recently widowed criminal lawyer Ellie Maginnis is from one of Bostons better families. McGraw is relatively unschooled; Ellie is a model of civility and breeding. Despite the gulf between them, Ellie realises a private investigator is the best accessory a lawyer can have, whilst Harry discovers a lawyer comes in handy when thrown in the slammer! Drawn together, Harry and Ellie investigate cases of mystery and murder, bringing the perpetrators of crime to justice. Jerry Orbach had made occasional appearances as gumshoe Harry McGraw in the Angela Lansbury mystery series Murder, She Wrote, his popularity leading to the creation of this spin-off series, with Barbara Babcock portraying the P.I.s sparring partner, Ellie Maginnis. Now for the first time, this five disc set brings together every case from the series, plus two bonus episodes of Murder, She Wrote featuring Harry McGraws first appearance, plus a special extended-length story used as a trial-run before graduating to the full series.

Harry MacGraw is a private investigator who appeared three times in the television series, Murder, She Wrote. He now stars in his own series, wherein he is still a private investigator in Boston. Who always seems to lose all of his money betting. Across the hall from him is the office of Ellie Maginnis, an attorney. It seems that Harry did some work for her late husband, and it seems he swore by Harry, so she uses him though he usually goes through the wringer to solve the case. Helping him out is his niece, who is the receptionist in his office, and also lending a hand is Maginnis' nephew, who is an associate in her office.

A man who married his wife for her money is accused of killing her. So Maginnis defends him and asks Harry to help which he is reluctant to do because he doesn't like the man. But eventually they discover a few anomalies, like for instance that the woman's step son was not fond of her either. And that the murder weapon that they think was used to kill her might not be the actual murder weapon.
