Synopsis:
John Kincaid and his family, along with Judge Hardwick attempt to stem the growing lawlessness and vice that springs up in their town when the Cherokee Strip is sold and settlers move in. This brings them into conflict with Whip McCord and his men. However, Jim Kincaid, the son of John, black- sheep of the family and nicknamed the Oklahoma Kid also becomes involved when McCord frames his father for murder, fixes the trial and subsequently stirs up the town into a lynch mob. He goes after McCord, as does his brother Ned. The Kid gets a confession and his brother is shot by McCord and dies, but not before killing McCord himself.

McCord's gang robs the stage carrying money to pay Indians for their land, and the notorious outlaw 'The Oklahoma Kid' Jim Kincaid takes the money from McCord. McCord stakes a 'sooner' claim on land which is to be used for a new town; in exchange for giving it up he gets control of gambling and saloons. When Kincaid's father runs for mayor, McCord incites a mob to lynch the old man whom McCord has already framed for murder..

The Oklahoma Kid is a 1939 western film starring James Cagney and Humphrey Bogart. The movie was directed for Warner Bros. by Lloyd Bacon. Cagney plays an adventurous gunslinger in a broad-brimmed cowboy hat while Bogart portrays his black-clad and viciously villainous nemesis. The film is often remembered for Cagney's character rubbing the thumb and forefinger of his hand together and exulting, "Feel that air!"
