Synopsis:
In 1728, while hunting ducks, Dick Lindsay comes across a pirate named Francis Barclay burying a treasure-chest. Barclay and his lieutenant, Burford, take Lindsay prisoner aboard their ship, the Black Panther. Barclay decides to use Lindsay to infiltrate the fortified island of his bitter enemy, Andrew MacAllister. (Twenty-one years ago MacAllister abducted Barclay's wife and daughter and sold Barclay into slavery.) Barclay has a scar burned into Lindsay's face so that he'll resemble MacAllister's nephew. Barclay then arranges for Lindsay to be washed up on MacAllister's island. MacAllister, who hasn't seen his nephew for 20 years, accepts Lindsay's false identity. However, while Lindsay is supposed to pave the way for Barclay's invasion of the island, he becomes sidetracked by a rebellion among MacAllister's slaves and by his growing attraction to MacAllister's beautiful daughter, Christine.

Francis Barclay, a former member of the British Admiralty, who was captured in the early 1700s, and sold into slavery, by Andrew McAllister, and forced into piracy, enlists the aid of Dick Lindsay, to help him invade MacAllister's fortified island. The latter falls in love with MacAllister's daughter,Christine. Complications arise as the man thought to be a nephew of one man may not be, and the daughter one one man may be the other man's daughter.

In 1728, pirate Francis Barclay (Cedric Hardwicke) captures adventurer Dick Lindsay (John Payne) in the Caribbean but pledges to free him if he'll infiltrate the island stronghold of Andrew MacAllister (Francis L. Sullivan), who betrayed Barclay long ago and stole his baby daughter, Christine. After gaining MacAllister's trust and winning the affections of the now-adult Christine (Arlene Dahl), Lindsay foments a revolt among MacAllister's slaves.
