Synopsis:
Miracle of the Wolves (1924)
Miracle of the Wolves takes place in the 15th century, when Louis XI was at odds with Charles of Burgundy. The king's forces are attacked by the Burgundian troops and Beauvais must be defended until reinforcements can arrive.

The Chess Player (1927)
In 1776, an inventor conceals a Polish nobleman in his chess-playing automaton, a machine whose fame leads it to the court of the Russian empress.

Tarakanova (1930)
Emperess Catherine II wants to get rid of Princess Elisabeth Tarakanova who is to replace her on the throne of Russia. She asks Prince Orloff to travel to Venice so he can seduce Elisabeth and bring her back to Russia. Orloff and Tarakanova fall in love.

Miracle of the Wolves (1924)
King Louis XI tries to unify France by all means fair or foul, which does not please his powerful rival Charles the Bold. It is against this troubled backdrop that the loves of the daughter of a wealthy bourgeois and the king's god-daughter Jeanne Fouquet and knight Robert Cottereau unfurl in spite of all the obstacles in their way. One of these being a pack of hungry wolves trying to stop Jeanne from carrying out an important mission assigned to her by the king himself.

The Chess Player (1927)
The story of the Turk, which turned out to be one of the most successful hoaxes ever pulled off, is fascinating in itself, but as the basis for Raymond Bernard's 1927 silent film, The Chess Player, it is nothing short of stunning. The film is an adaptation of a novel by Henri Dupuy-Mazuel, who placed Kempelen and his device in the middle of a Polish revolution and carried them into the Winter Palace of Catherine II of Russia. The result is at once bold, emotional, eerie, and beautiful.

Tarakanova (1930)
The Empress Catherine II is keen to rid herself of the Princess Elisabeth Tarakanova, who has a claim to the throne of Russia. To that end, she sends her devoted Prince Orloff to Venice to seduce her and bring her to St Petersburg. From the moment they first meet, Orloff and Tarakanova become inseparable, but their love will be the death of them...
