Synopsis:
In a time when waves of soldiers are returning from Afghanistan and Iraq, CIVVIES is a shocking, violent, unflinching drama that puts you in the front line on the home front, as powerful, unforgiving and true as when first broadcast in the early 90s. Frank Dillon is retiring from the Army after 15 years with only £5,000, which won't last, and the physical and psychological scars which will. He'd rather drink with the boys and go out looking for a fight than return home to the family he loves so much it hurts. But what he and his mates have gone through, what they've seen, what they've done is something no one else will understand; and so they turn to each other - when the doors close, when the pubs open, when revenge is the answer, when the scars are healing. As they struggle to find their feet in the world, always lurking in the darkness is Barry Newman, an East End gangster who is one of the few to see potential in hard men trained to kill. Whether they can avoid the darkness and stay in the light will be seen as we see life in CIVVIES.

EPISODE GUIDE:
Episode No. 1
Frank Dillon retires from the Army after 18 years and finds it difficult to adjust to civilian life. He tries to find a job, while trying to resist the temptation of the easy money offered by working for the local gangland villain, Barry Newman. He argues violently with his wife and ignores his children. He takes one of his former colleagues, who was shot in the throat by a sniper, under his wing and tries to restore some of his self-respect.
Episode No. 2
The stress of civilian life causes Taffy to crack up with frightening consequences. Dillon and Steve get a new job.
Episode No. 3
Frank and his team of ex-paras go to Scotland to tackle salmon poachers. When they arrive, they find that security is being dealt with by another ex-para, Tony Malone, the soldier whom Frank blames for the bomb explosion which killed six of his young recruits in Belfast.
Episode No. 4
Frank is stunned by the suicide of his military buddy Steve. The ex-paras form a company, Stag Security Car Hire. They are contracted to do a job for local gangster Barry Newman. Tensions mount between Frank and Jimmy.
Episode No. 5
Frank, increasingly tortured by his past in Northern Ireland, finds himself an accomplice to a crime.
Episode No. 6
Frank, Harry and Cliff are arrested and accused of a crime they didn't commit.

Former soldiers in Britain's elite Parachute Regiment struggle to come to terms with civilian life after leaving the army.
