Synopsis:
Fitzcarraldo (1982)
Fitzcarraldo is an obsessed opera lover who wants to build an opera in the jungle. To accomplish this he first has to make a fortune in the rubber business, and his cunning plan involves hauling an enormous river boat across a small mountain with aid from the local Indians.

Pandora's Box (1929)
The rise and inevitable fall of an amoral but naive young woman whose insouciant eroticism inspires lust and violence in those around her.

Europa Europa (1990)
A Jewish boy, separated from his family in the early days of WWII, poses as a German orphan and is thereafter taken into the heart of the Nazi world as a 'war hero' and eventually made a Hitler Youth. Although improbabilities and happenstance are cornerstones of the film, it is based upon a true story.

Fitzcarraldo (1982)
1896. A penniless entrepreneur, Brian Sweeney Fitzgerald (called Fitzcarraldo by the Indians) living in Iquitos, a shanty town on the Amazon thousands of miles from anywhere, has a dream: to bring opera to the town, and especially Caruso, who has just given a performance in the rubber-boom city of Manaus. To get Caruso, he has to build an opera house, which involves his undertaking a scheme to exploit a hitherto inaccessible area of rubber trees, which lies beyond rapids never before navigated.

Pandora's Box (1929)
The dancer and prostitute Lulu is the mistress of the newspaper owner Dr. Ludwig Schön and lives in an apartment paid for by him. When her former "protector" Schigolch visits Lulu, he brings the opportunist agent Rodrigo Quast that invites Lulu to dance in a play. Dr. Schön tells Lulu that he will marry the aristocratic Charlotte Marie Adelaide v. Zarnikow and mesmerizing Lulu forces him to marry her. However, in the wedding party, Dr. Schön finds Lulu partying with Schigolch and Rodrigo Quast in their bedroom and he gets his pistol and forces Lulu to shoot him. Lulu is arrested and almost six months later, she goes to the tribunal for trial. Despite the testimony of Dr. Schön's son Alwa Schön and his friend Countess Anna Geschwitz, Lulu is sentenced to five years in prison in a prejudicial verdict. But her friends cause a bedlam in court and Lulu flees. Alwa and Lulu decide to travel to Paris, but in the train, they are convinced to follow the crook Marquis Casti-Piani in the beginning of Lulu's downfall.

Europa Europa (1990)
Europa Europa tells the story of Solomon Perel, a Jewish boy who survives World War II by posing as a Aryan German. Perel joins the German Army and is eventually accepted into the Hitler Youth. At the end of World War II, he is reunited with his family.
