Series 1 (2004)
1 "The Con is On" Bharat Nalluri Tony Jordan 24 February 2004
Mickey "Bricks" Stone has just been released from prison, having served a sentence for attacking his wife's boyfriend. An expert at the "long con", he assembles his old team of fellow hustlers to pull off one last con before he retires for good. His team is diverse, ranging from old hand Albert Stroller, to the alluring Stacie Monroe, and the jack-of-all-trades Ashley "3 Socks" Morgan. Their "mark" is a greedy business man and with the con all going to plan, short con player Danny Blue enters the picture to try and join the team and could jeopardize the score. In the end, the team get the mark to invest in an illegal investment, but the police catch them. It then turns out that the person heading the investigation is another grifter, and it is all an elaborate plan to test Danny's loyalty.

2 "Faking It" Bharat Nalluri Tony Jordan 2 March 2004
Albert is viciously beaten by a local gangster after cheating at cards. Initially, Frank Gorlay, a casino owner who beat Albert, seems untouchable. 3 "Picture Perfect" Bharat Nalluri Matthew Graham 9 March 2004
Albert and Ash inadvertantly rip off a businessman for his last savings. In order to pay him back, the gang create a supposedly revolutionary painting exhibiting a new art form, and try and sell it to ruthless art collector Meredith Gates. However, hurdles lie ahead for the team in the form of a brilliant, but completely untrustworthy artist, and a snooping art journalist.
4 "Cops and Robbers" Minkie Spiro Tony Jordan 16 March 2004
Mickey is blackmailed by a former cop-turned-bank security manager, who threatens to send Danny to prison if Mickey doesn't help him catch an habitual bank robber. 5 "A Touch of Class" Minkie Spiro Ashley Pharoah 23 March 2004
A rich, bitchy, recently divorced woman is the target of the con. The team decide to do the Congreve con (defrauding a vengeful woman). 6 "The Last Gamble" Robert Bailey Tony Jordan 30 March 2004

Despite Mickey and Albert declaring the man untouchable, Danny makes a 50 pence bet with Mickey that the developer can be conned. Danny's plan: to convince the developer that a worthless piece of property in the heart of London is sitting on top of a literal gold mine. When the con begins to unravel at the 11th hour, it is left to the more experienced Mickey to rescue the situation and keep everybody out of jail.

Meanwhile, as they do, Eddie is looking after his niece who's attending a meeting for a potential dream job as a model, only to find her dream's dashed by the owner of the fashion agency she went through. Eddie is upset about this, not only for his niece losing out on her dream opportunity, but also because it was all part of an elaborate con. The team decide to deal with the agent first, a former fashion model in their earlier days, now striving to work with the big clients instead of the small fry, especially as her former partner has set up their own agency and gotten a contract for a big fashion show. The team offer her that chance, and lure her into the "Spanish Prisoner" con, but the mark is a very tricky woman who's quite the pennypincher. She learn's that Joe's life had been great, a fine house, a great job, a lovely son, what could possibly spoil it? Well for Joe - it was losing his wife. In an attempt to cope with his grief he found himself in debt and took out a loan to cover it from a company called Do$h$You, not checking the small print about their interest rates - they're extremely high, immoral, and unjust, but sadly within the letter of the law; for Joe he's left with the prospect of losing his house as a result of falling behind on his repayments. Emma believes the team should go after the owner, who's base of operation is in Birmingham, Joe's hometown. While Albert stays behind in London as the base man, the others work on finding a way in. Their mark is eager to rise in class, so they offer her something to suit the bill - a title and a castle - the elaborate "Eiffel Tower" con. The pair get the team to work on a plan to bring down the current Wendall family member, who sadly, knows them all very well. They decide to take advantage of his desire to get back a piece of his family's legacy, the Wendell Wheel.
