Murder in Hopeville (2002)
Helen Thompson and her young daughter Ellie live in the small town of Hopeville, located on the shores of the Bay of Fundy. It's the day before the annual Swan Festival, the biggest event in town. The event took on a new life twenty years earlier when a non-indigenous Australian black swan was spotted for the first time. Now, legend has it that spotting that black swan has special meaning, for some good, for others bad. It does more so for Helen, whose mother, Mara, died that day when she was washed away by the tides. Helen was told then that her body sailed down to Florida. Helen hates the town, and dreams of moving away, anywhere - but most specifically Florida - someday. Today, the local grocer, Mr. Yung, is missing and presumed murdered, and his store was burglarized. Helen believes her shiftless boyfriend, Carl, had something to do with it. Among others, four people also arrive in town that day. One is wheelchair-bound Albert, who comes into town every couple of years and has a special but dysfunctional relationship with Helen. Two is a mysterious woman wandering the shores, she who comes every year to the festival. And three and four are Clive and Bella from Montreal, who didn't come for the festival but are stuck in town as their car has broken down. Helen sees Clive as her possible ticket out of town.
Skyscraper (1996)
A feisty helicopter pilot (Smith) is taken hostage and ordered by crazed terrorists to fly to the top of an 86-story building. Trapped in the convoluted, high-tech building, she must outwit her captors before they can steal a lethal weapons system. This high-intensity action flick is a ton of fun.
Firepower (1993)
In the year 2007, crime has risen at an exponential rate. Once highly populated metropolises such as Los Angeles are no longer inhabitable. These cities have transformed into 'Hell Zones,' ruled by violent street gangs. The Hell Zone, formerly called the 'Zone of Personal Freedom,' is a safe-haven for criminal warpaths everywhere. This Hell Zone in LA is controlled by a criminal mastermind named Drexal (Joseph Ruskin). For the sake of entertaining his crowds of decadent losers and underlings, Drexal has staged a series of lethal, no-holds-barred matches in the 'Death Ring,' where the winner takes all of the glory...while the defeated one shall lose his self-respect (or maybe just his head). Meanwhile, two brave cops, Braniff (Chad McQueen), and Sledge (Gary Daniels) must risk their badges...and their lives when they enter Los Angeles's 'Hell Zone.' They must fight for their lives in order to expose an alleged 'black market' involving the sale of counterfeit AIDS vaccines. Will these two men triumph against all odds in the Hell Zone alive or will they pay with their lives?
Scrapbook (1999)
Sibling rivalry is the focus of this film. A younger, less secure boy falls in the shadow of his older, more popular brother. At his brother's urging he tries out for a school musical and wins the lead. But then he hears his brother bragging about he had gotten the younger brother the role. This causes the boy to drop out of the play, but continuing as the piano accompanist. In that role, he develops a crush on the female lead and love blossoms until the girl comes over to the house. The older brother belittles his brother and the girl shifts her affections. This drive the younger brother into a gang and eventually culminates in an act of revenge.
Ring of Fire II: Blood and Steel (1993)
In this Ring of Fire sequel, Don Wilson and Maria Ford play an enduring couple who survive all sorts of interference from rival kickbox gangs in their effort to put a little romance in their lives. When Ford is kidnapped and taken deep into the subterranean womb of an enemy gang hideaway, her lover must come to her rescue.
