Synopsis:

From Norway, following the tradition of quality cinema aware of young spectators' and their families' needs, there is a beautiful live action film where child actors interact with stop motion animated puppets. The film looks at the daily life of Karsten and Petra and their tender cloth alter egos, Miss Rabbit and Lion Cub. Petra is about to turn 5 and at preschool she meets a new classmate, Karsten, a shy and sensitive boy. They immediately become friends. Petra's mom is a vet and her daughter begs for a dog to no avail, so the little girl must settle for her stuffed rabbit... many adventures for the two children and their stuffed animals, faithful imaginary friends, with a side of affectionate relatives and adults A story about friendship and growing up told from the point of view of the small protagonists.

Petra about to celebrate her fifth birthday. What she wants most of all is a dog. But Petra's mom, who is a vet, says that one must be a little older to take care of a dog. But Petra insists that five years is more than old enough! Karsten dreads to start a new daycare. But when he arrives in the kindergarden, he meets Petra. She also has a stuffed animal that comes alive, and from that day Karsten and Petra are best friends. They play together all the time, even though Sigrid often teases them. Karsten is there when Petra meets the old and very cute dog, Bassa, for the first time. Petra falls in love with Bassa and wants to take her home immediatly.
