Synopsis:

FIRST TIME ON DVD & DIGITALLY RESTORED - Terry Pratchett's Truckers is released on DVD in its original broadcast format. It was previously available only on VHS as a cut down feature length episode. Broadcast on ITV from 10 January 1992 through to 3rd April 1992, this much loved stop animation TV series is from the revered production house Cosgrove Hall, the makers of Dangermouse. The first book by Terry Pratchett to be adapted for either the small or big screen, Truckers brings to life the story of the Nomes. 15,000 years ago the Nomes crashed to Earth in a scout ship from the starship Swan. Generations of them have come and gone with the passing years and the changing countryside. Suddenly faced with extinction, the ten surviving Nomes, guided by their reluctant leader Masklin, must face many exciting adventures during their search for a new home and hiding place in the big, bad world of the humans. Includes all 13 episodes.

Masklin is a four inches high Gnome whom along with his family lives in the wilderness of the outside world and struggles for survival. Masklin and his family embark on a adventure when Masklin and his family stowaway on-board a truck, the truck transports them to a superstore -- Arnold Bros. (Est. 1905) where Masklin and his family discover a colony of Gnomes living within the floorboards of the superstore. The Gnomes have never been outside and they believe Outside, Rain and Sun are legends and nothing exists outside the superstore. Masklin and his family have in their possession, a black box called "The Thing" which has the ability to communicate with electricity and it spells bad news for the Gnomes and tells them that the superstore is going to close down.

Under the floorboards of an old department store live the gnomes, tiny people for whom things like Outside and Sun and Rain are just daft old legends. Then a group of new gnomes arrive from the Outside that nobody believes in, bringing with them The Thing. The Thing eats electricity. It listens to electricity, too. And right now the electricity is telling it that the store is about to be closed down...
