Synopsis:
Dexter Fletcher directs this cinematic adaptation of the acclaimed stage musical featuring the music of Scottish band The Proclaimers. Returning home from their most recent stint in Afghanistan, Davy (George MacKay) and Ally (Kevin Guthrie) have a new appreciation for life after witnessing the horrors of war first-hand. While Ally plans his proposal to Davy's sister Liz (Freya Mavor), Davy falls for Yvonne (Antonia Thomas) and the two couples come together in time for Liz's parent's wedding anniversary, but not everything is plain sailing for love in Leith...

Sunshine on Leith is based on the sensational stage hit of the same name, featuring music by pop-folk band The Proclaimers. The film follows the stories of Davy and Ally, who have to re-learn how to live life in Edinburgh after coming home from serving in Afghanistan. Both struggle to learn to live a life outside the army and to deal with the everyday struggles of family, jobs and relationships.

Two Scottish soldiers return from a tour of duty in to their hometown of Leith (Endinburgh, Scotland). We witness the trials and tribulations as we follow the love lives of both soldiers and their families as they all come to terms with a life out of the war-zone. One of our heroes proposes too early and the other doesn't commit early enough.
