At the party held to mark the end of the exercise Vares finds himself strongly attracted by his 'captor', but what seems to be promising situation proves a let down: Eeva, who is a teacher in civilian life, tells him that she is about to get married. And Vares is not permitted to pat her down... After a fast-paced series of incidents, Eeva makes headlines all over the country while the chase takes Vares across southern Finland, and through endless drenching rain. The millions, skimmed from Russian Mafia operations, have a lot of takers. And human life is not worth much in comparison. Eeva Sunila discovers that she´s the fall guy in a game whose main players include her new husband Antero Kraft (Jorma Tommila), traitorous man-eater Ifigenia Multanen (Minna Turunen), ruthless business-shark Karl E. Miesmann (Jari Halonen), crooked cop Mikko Koitere (Samuli Edelmann) and professional hitmen Jari 'Red-Eye' Munck (Pekka Valkeejärvi) and Tetsuo Sinkkonen (Kari Hietalahti). Even with no real leads to go on, Vares manages to get himself deep into the small town's bizarre underground and find out all its dirty secrets.

The Kiss of Evil (2011)

His life seems to lack direction and he feels the world has become a strange and heartless place.Vares' daily life becomes more exciting when the family of a young girl, Kerttu, who was found stabbed in the spring hire him to investigate her unsolved death. Vares feels slightly suspicious of the fact that the mother of the slain girl is the sister of his lover, a busty married woman Laila. Vares does not wish to mix his private life with his work, but Laila only finds the increased risk of getting caught more exciting. As he delves into the case of the murdered girl, he soon realises that the culprit must have been a close acquaintance of hers or, at least, someone with a personal motive.

The Path Of The Righteous Men (2012)
The body of a young woman, her heart ripped out of the chest, is found next to an old cemetery in a small village on the west coast of Finland. The body is discovered by a dismissed pastor named Hukkanen, who hires Jussi Vares to investigate the case. This is the starting point for the strangest case Vares has ever worked on. Vares travels to the village. The village, aptly named Two Rivers, has seen better days; it is also in the grip of a religious cult. Vares gets to know the villagers; they seem to be one crazier than the last one. Wherever Vares goes, things get stranger and stranger. The patient information cards at the local mental hospital hold dark secrets: half of the villagers seem to be patients of the hospital superintendent.

Gambling Chip (2012)
Jussi Vares falls in love with a beautiful brunette - only to lose her in a horrible way. After dating Sole a few weeks, her body is found in a bird-watching tower. The investigations come to a standstill, until Vares promises to solve a mystery of messy denunciation letters. Before the letters reveal their secret, a lot of things happen. A gun-for-hire, Stahanov, gets an assignment. Sole's brother finds his wife in the arms of a wrong man and goes on a rampage, accompanied by a black cat. In the end the clues lead to a familiar person and more death in unavoidable.

Tango Of Darkness (2012)

Jussi Vares gets a phone call from a down-and-out journalist; the informant tells Vares he knows the murderer. Then the journalist disappears without a trace and Vares has to face the biggest challenge of his career.
