First Do No Harm (1997)
When Lori Reimuller learns that her young son Robbie has epilepsy, she first trusts the judgment of the hospital staff in how best to bring it under control. As Robbie's health slides radically downhill, however, she becomes frustrated and desperate, and so does her own research into the existing literature on treatments. When she decides to try an alternative treatment called the Ketogenic Diet, devised long ago by a doctor from Johns Hopkins, she is met with narrow-minded resistance from Robbie's doctor, who is prepared to take legal action to prevent Lori from removing him from the hospital. This movie is an indictment of those in the medical profession who discuss only the treatment options they favor. Several of the minor characters are portrayed by people who have been not just helped, but cured by the Ketogenic diet.
The Other Woman (1995)
After the divorce from Michael, Tessa raises her daughters Kate and Laura alone. None of them can stand her ex-husband new young wife Carolyn, a model. But then Tessa learns that she's suffering from cancer and soon will die. Now she tries to get her kids to accept Carolyn as new mother. She takes her with her on a trip across America to her father Jacob's ranch in Wyoming. She tries to teach Carolyn about the responsibilities involved in raising kids.
Freefall: Flight 174 (1995)
It's the summer of 1982. Canada World Airways' brand-new Boeing 767 leaves Montreal bound for Edmonton. When the plane reaches its cruise altitude, the impossible happens: the plane runs out of fuel, due to a miscalculation by the ground staff in Montreal. Captain Bob Pearson and First Officer Maurice Quintal face a potentially deadly disaster in this true story, as the 767, with about 60 souls on board, slowly falls from the sky.
Deadly Whispers (1995)
Could a noble and dedicated father actually be guilty of killing his own daughter? Or are the police needlessly dragging an innocent man through a misguided and incompetent investigation in this controversial thriller? A devoted family man has worked his whole life for success and finally turns a local auto salvage yard into a profitable business. However, his dreams are shattered when his rebellious teenage daughter begins an affair with a married man and she is tragically found murdered. Soon, the father becomes the main suspect in the case and as he sets out to find the real killer, long buried secrets from his past are revealed, unlocking the truth behind the shocking murder.
Trial by Fire (1995)
Made-for-TV drama following the trial of a suburban teacher. Trouble brews in Paradise Valley, a middle class urban oasis, when Kip Bouchmoyer (Andrew Kavovit), a highly strung young student, commits suicide. Kip was known to be close to one of his teachers, Paulette Gill (Gail O'Grady), before his death - and even hinted to friends that he may have been involved with her romantically. What does fate hold in store for Paulette, who maintains that she only had a professional relationship with the boy, as a trial is brought against her in the uproar that follows Kip's death?
Behind the Mask (1999)
Dr. Bob Shushan is an overworked and absent father who runs a centre for the mentally and physically challenged. When Shushan suffers a heart attack, his life is saved by James Jones, a young patient at the center. The two men forge a friendship and help each other rekindle the father-son bond that has been missing in their lives.
Sharing the Secret (2000)
Sharing the Secret is a 2000 American television drama film about a teenage girl's struggle with bulimia and its effect on her parents and friends.
Death in the Shadows (1998)
Chip Sheppard is a young man living a blessed life until he awakens one night to a living nightmare in which his mother is brutally murdered. All evidence points to his wealthy physician father, who's convicted of the crime, but Chip is convinced of his innocence and devotes his life to clearing his father's name. Based on the true story that inspired the TV hit "The Fugitive," this spine-tingling thriller stars Peter Strauss and Henry Czerny.
To Live For (1999)
Susan (Nancy Travis) is a single mother facing terminal cancer. She gets treatment, but her health only continues to get worse. Along with her young daughter, Carson (Jamie Renée Smith), Susan relocates from Chicago to her hometown in California. There she battles with her own parents' issues and deals with Carson's fragile emotional state. At her lowest, she meets and falls in love with a busboy, Michael (Scott Bairstow), despite a large age difference and her grim condition.
Gone in the Night (1996)
Were it not based on a true story, this two-part TV movie could well have been dismissed as a grotesque nightmare. The story begins in 1988, when the Chicago home of Cindi and David Dowaliby (Shannen Doherty, Kevin Dillon) is invaded by person or persons unknown, who kidnap and murder their daughter Jacklyn while the couple sleeps. Once the crime is reported, the grief-stricken Dowalibys find themselves accused of their daughter's murder. The authorities are cruel and relentless, public opinion is hostile, the media is doggedly one-sided, and the family's very expensive lawyers more interested in their fee than in justice. Ultimately, Cindi is "cleared", but David is sentenced to a 45-year prison term--and both the couple's surviving child and Cindi's newborn baby are taken away from them. The rest of the film concerns Cindi's tireless and apparently futile battle to win back her children, secure her husband's release and restore the family's mud-splattered reputation. Originally telecast by CBS on February 25 and 27, 1996, Gone in the Night may indeed end on a small note of triumph, but by no means is the tragic situation completely resolved.

Collection of ten films based on real events. 'First Do No Harm' (1996) stars Meryl Streep as Lori Reimuller who takes on the medical establishment in a battle to save her son Robbie (Seth Adkins), who has begun suffering from epileptic fits. 'Freefall - Flight 174' (1995) follows a state-of-the-art Boeing 767 airliner when it runs out of fuel at 41,000 feet. Captain Bob Pearson (William Devane) has nowhere to land and a storm is approaching fast. Can he turn the plane into a glider and avoid a fatal crash? In 'Deadly Whispers' (1995) Tom and Carol Acton (Tony Danza and Pamela Reed)'s family is torn apart when Tom is suspected of killing their eldest teenage daughter. 'Sharing the Secret' (2000) follows the family turmoil created by a teenager's struggle with bulimia. In 'Gone in the Night' (1996) a commited journalist, a university professor, a lawyer and a seasoned detective see through the hysteria of a young girl's abduction and attempt to help the parents get to the bottom of the terrible crime. 'Death in the Shadows' (1998) dramatizes the conviction of surgeon Dr Sam Sheppard (Peter Strauss) for allegedly murdering his wife, as seen from the point of view of his son Chip (Henry Czerny). When his father is eventually released, Chip reaches back to the past in an attempt to prove his dad's innocence once and for all. 'The Other Woman' (1995) follows a dying mother as she worries about who will look after her two daughters when she is gone. In 'Behind the Mask' (1999) Dr Bob Shushan (Donald Sutherland) tries to find a role in society for James (Matthew Fox), the disturbed and withdrawn young man who saved him from a heart attack. In 'To Live For' (1999), after discovering she has cancer, Susan Allen (Nancy Travis) decides to spend what time she has left living life to the fullest with her ten-year-old daughter Carson (Jamie Renee Smith). She also has to make the agonising decision where to 'place' Carson after her death. Finally, in 'Trial By Fire' (1995) trouble brews in Paradise Valley, a middle class urban oasis, when Kip Bouchmoyer (Andrew Kavovit), a highly strung young student, commits suicide. Kip was known to be close to one of his teachers, Paulette Gill (Gail O'Grady), before his death - and even hinted to friends that he may have been involved with her romantically. What does fate hold in store for Paulette, who maintains that she only had a professional relationship with the boy?
