Synopsis:
When criminal Colin Briggs (Clive Owen) gets banged up in a minimum security prison, he finds that the best way to avoid some of the prison's more unpleasant duties is to get involved in looking after the gardens. It then comes as a complete surprise to Colin that he actually has a real greenfingered knack for tending flowers, so much so that celebrity horticulturalist Georgina Woodhouse (Helen Mirren) begins taking an interest in his work. Encouraged to enter a national gardening contest at Hampton Court, Colin begins preparing for the big day, while also taking quite a shine to Georgina's daughter Primrose (Natasha Little).

Based on a true story about a group of British convicts who become prize- winning gardeners. Colin and Fergus are incarcerated in an experimental facility in England. They take up gardening as part of their rehabilitation under the guidance of horticulture expert Georgina Woodhouse. Eventually, their diligence pays off and they go on to compete in the prestigious Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.

Clive Owen stars as a prison inmate who goes into an experimental "open" prison where the inmates walk around freely and get job training for their impending releases. While there, he discovers he has a talent for growing flowers. His talent is recognized by a gardening guru who encourages him and four other inmates to enter a national gardening competition.
